Who are
Free ICT?
FreeICT USA promotes fair and open markets, that removes barriers to the independent trade, repair and maintenance of Hardware and Software.
Fair, open and competitive markets are underpinned by end-users’ right of ownership,
and the freedom to choose providers.
FreeICT USA is a not-for-profit Foundation, founded by independent organizations to
actively promote and represent the ICT Secondary Market within the United States.
Influencing US legislation is an important step towards our aim of achieving positive, sustainable change.
Our
Objective
To secure the right of ownership, and a free market that offers a variety of competitive choices for trade, maintenance and repair. Read our latest position paper here.
This will result in a fair, level playing field in the secondary ICT market, which is free of vendor lock-ins and restrictive policies.
FreeICT USA works collaboratively to explore current issues and highlight how barriers to a competitive, healthy secondary market can be removed.
Our main touchpoints with policy makers are the Right to Repair, Circular Economy and its relationship with Resource Efficiency, a healthy, competitive market in repair, maintenance, upgrades, reuse and resale and the economic value this creates for the nation. Our expertise in this area comes from the experience, research, and ongoing advocacy of the independent service providers.
